Meghan Cleary Bows Shoe Line

Meghan Cleary, a TV personality and author dubbed “America’s Shoe Expert” is about to don another hat: designer.

Miss Meghan shoes will officially launch on Oct. 29 at ShopNBC and on ShopNBC.com. Miss Meghan tights and bags are also about to hit the masses, she said.

Cleary will first launch a collection of suede ankle booties and will later debut a holiday line in December featuring ballet flats, a special holiday clutch and platform pumps. Almost everything is priced under $50, she said. The shoes will feature latex padding for comfort and most shoes will average a 2.5 inch heel height.

“For the last several years, I’ve done a lot of appearances and women always come up to me and pour out their shoe stories,” said Cleary, adding that many women express frustrations about shoes they need but can’t find. “I’m able to incorporate all of that knowledge into my shoe line and a lot of the pieces are about things I’m looking for as well.”

Cleary remained mum on who is manufacturing the shoes, though she did cite a New York-based company.

The spring 2010 line, available in March, will feature nude trends, faux python textures, and totes and bags with shoe pockets inside.
