Keep It Kool
Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Koolaburra is giving the sheepskin boot a modern makeover. For fall ’10, the brand is launching the Modern Classic, a versatile boot that features a hidden inner zipper and a tri-density athletic construction composed of a rubber outsole and an EVA midsole. A removable EVA footbed promises arch support and stability. Three styles — Cassidy, Marissa and Micah (below) — make up the introductory offering. The boots will retail for $180 to $220 at department stores and specialty shops, including Neiman Marcus, Endless.com and Kitson. The brand’s replacement insoles will be available on Koolaburra.com for $25.

Art Walks
Greenwich, Conn.-based All Black is getting artsy. The brand’s footwear designer, Colin Lin, designed a shoe called Walking Art, inspired by the work of emerging Taiwanese artist Lin Ying-Yu. Lin transferred the colors and style of the artist’s paintings to leather, and the art will appear on various flats for fall ’10. The shoes will bow at the WSA Show and will retail for $120 at specialty boutiques.

Moxy Lady
Ron Owens and Gary Van Ackeren, formerly of Two Lips, have launched the brand Mojo Moxy for fall ’10. The Dallas-based brand will retail for $50 to $70. Boots will be priced slightly higher, between $100 and $150. The line features styles from flats to tall boots, platform pumps and ankle boots with adornments such as studs, bow details and buckles. The target distribution will be better department stores and online accounts.

Creative Next
Sneaker company Creative Recreation is getting in on the women’s fashion game. The L.A.-based brand is readying a fall ’10 collection of fashionable footwear featuring 13 styles, including sleek wedges, heels blending exotic skins and suede, and a three-in-one boot that can be worn at the ankle, knee and thigh. Priced between $200 and $450, the line, which incorporates comfort details such as gel padding for extra cushion, is being targeted to high-end department stores and specialty boutiques.
