Skechers USA Inc. is giving away more than 200,000 pairs of Bobs shoes to children impacted by Typhoon Haiyan.
The company said it will partner with nonprofit Soles4Souls to distribute the shoes. (Soles4Souls announced plans to launch an aid effort on Monday, and Skechers has emerged as the donation partner.)
The donation marks the 6 millionth pair of shoes given through the Bobs charitable brand since the program began in 2011.
"The Bobs program was established to help children in need around the world — be it those struggling to survive daily, or who find themselves in the path of natural disasters," Skechers President Michael Greenberg said in a statement. "But with Typhoon Haiyan, it hits home. We have a strong distribution partner in the Philippines who we have worked with for two decades, and I have heard from numerous members of our Skechers team in the U.S. that they have family in the region impacted by this disaster."
Last week, Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines, devastating the Islands.
