Shop Talk: Rachel Comey Opens In Soho, Fisher Project Opens in L.A.

Markk Bows Sneaker-Care Concept

Comey Comes To Soho
Shoe and apparel designer Rachel Comey opened her first flagship in New York this week.  The designer’s 1600-square-foot shop is located in a refurbished single-story storefront in Soho, just steps from the designer’s apartment. Comey turned to Brooklyn architect Elizabeth Roberts and San Francisco-based interior designer Charles De Lisle, to create the contemporary space.  “Well, it’s been a long time coming.  We have been exclusive wholesalers for over 13 years and we were ready to start answering that question about where to find something with a location of our own,” Comey said.

She pointed to the shoe display as her favorite part of the new location. “It was the first place I started when thinking about the store, as shoes are a very important element in our collection.  It is a giant floating slab of concrete aggregate with a travertine top.  It hovers above the floor under a skylight in the middle of the store,” she said.

Fisher Project Opens

Eileen Fisher debuted her new concept shop in Los Angeles this week. Dubbed The Fisher Project, the store opened on Robertson Boulevard and joins other shops like Madison, Kitson, Splendid and Lululemon. The location features Fisher’s signature understated, minimalist pieces in a modern, airy boutique.

Sneaker Care Expert Opens Flagship
Sneakerheads can now call on shoe-care expert Jason Markk in person. Markk, who sells a line of natural sneaker care products, opened his first brick and mortar store in late May. The shop offers drop-off and same day sneaker cleaning service starting at $10. The space is located at 329 E. 2nd St. in the Little Tokyo neighborhood of Los Angeles.
