Women’s boots were a season-saver for retailers last year, as sales of weather-appropriate and fashionable footwear gave shoppers a reason to buy even in tight economic times. Looks like it will be good news for boot brands once again: When Footwear News hit New York’s bustling Rockefeller Center last week, locals and tourists alike said they are continuing to buy boots — of varying heights — that offer warmth, comfort and, as always, style. Ugg, Merrell and Aldo topped their lists for the season.
