Trendsetter Chloë Sevigny, star of HBO’s “Big Love,” knows shoes — she fêted her second collab with boutique Opening Ceremony earlier this year and will debut a capsule collection with Bass this fall. Here, she dished to Insider about what she designed and what she loves.

Q: What challenges did you face with the new Opening Ceremony collection?
A: I wanted to do a chunky heel, but we couldn’t get the shapes right, so we ended up doing wedges. The wedges this season are much thinner and sexier. We made this amazing pair with strappy buckles that go all the way up. They are already on back order, so I’m very enthusiastic about that shoe.

Q:
You have a reputation as a huge shoe collector. What’s your organizational method?
A: Oh my God, I have hundreds of pairs. I keep them in a stairwell in clear plastic boxes, labeled. But the pairs in heavy rotation are in my everyday closet. Right now, my favorites are these cowboy boots by NaNa that I found at a flea market in Austin, Texas. I also have a pair of combat boots by NaNa — I am very into that brand right now.

Q:
What would be your dream collab?
A: Hermès, maybe? [Laughs.] That might be reaching a little high. Actually, NaNa would be a great collaboration!

Works of Art
Alice Instone usually paints high-profile Brits, but at her exhibition, “Interview With a Shoe,” at East London cocktail bar Beach Blanket Babylon, footwear was in the spotlight. “I kept doing sittings with all these interesting people and was always noticing their shoes,” Instone told Insider at the exhibition’s preview late last month. According to the artist, Annie Lennox’s gold sandals (at left), worn as a bridesmaid at Bob Geldof’s Las Vegas wedding, were the first subject for her series of 36 paintings and 11 sculptures. Other highlights include thigh-high boots by Brian Atwood for Alice Temperley, tennis shoes belonging to Pat Cash, and Elle Macpherson’s favorite cowboy boots.

Stir It Up
Claudia Ciuti has a fan in soul sensation Patti LaBelle. The songstress celebrated her birthday over Memorial Day weekend in Philadelphia, and the Italian shoe designer — who met LaBelle at a recent benefit concert for Harlem Village Academies — had a big part. Not only was LaBelle’s birthday cake fashioned to look like a stack of shoeboxes, including one of Ciuti’s (at right), but the designer sent a metallic stiletto sandal from the spring ’09 line as a tribute. “If you’ve ever had the opportunity to witness Patti in person, you would know what an incredible performer she is,” Ciuti dished to Insider. “At one point [during the benefit concert where we met], she kicked off her shoes and put on an entirely new pair! I knew right then I was in the presence of a shoe queen.” Sounds like the heels were a hit: The diva reportedly called the gifted pair of metallic stilettos “beautiful and extremely unique.”

NYC Hearts Burberry
Color Manhattan checkered. Last Thursday, British brand Burberry officially unveiled its new Madison Avenue headquarters, where the new 50-foot-long Burberry logos atop the building replaced the “New York” sign of years past. Mayor Michael Bloomberg even declared it “Burberry Day” throughout the city to celebrate.
