On the ABC Family show “Make It or Break It,” actress Josie Loren’s character, Kaylee Cruz, is an Olympic-hopeful gymnast with unwavering determination. In real life, 22-year-old Loren is just as hardworking, balancing her starring role on the series and appearances in movies — including “17 Again” with Zac Efron — while pursuing a degree in mass media and communications at UCLA. But when it comes to her character’s fashion sense, the similarities end. “Kaylee wears something pink every day on the show, and now, when I go shopping, I can’t even look at pink,” she said. “She’s kind of conservative and very trendy, while I’m a little edgier.” And in stores, Loren is always on the lookout for a good heel. “I have a short complex — I’m only 5-foot-2.”

Pairs owned: “Probably 30. Shoes are my thing.”

Brands: Charles David, Michael Kors, Nike, Prada, Ugg and Steve Madden, among others

Personal style: “It depends on how I’m feeling each day. I like that comfortable-chic look with a pair of shorts, a loose vest and maybe some great wedges. But I also love to glam up and go out with my girlfriends in high heels.”

Favorite pair: “I have these classic black peep-toe pumps I wear all the time. I also have some Charles David black gladiator-type shoes with gold accents that are not too chunky, so I can wear them with a lot of things.”

Go-to shoes for class: “In the winter, definitely Ugg boots. During the summer, it’s sneakers because there are a lot of hills on campus and I like to be comfortable.”

Favorite workout shoes: “I always wear Nike for running because the shoes are lightweight.”

Biggest splurge: “I have a pair of amazing Prada boots that are among my favorites. They’re brown leather and go up to the knee. Those boots were my wardrobe investment.”

Favorite cities for shoe shopping: “Los Angeles is awesome; I love Melrose Avenue because it has expensive stores, as well as boutiques where you can find the best stuff. Miami has a lot of cool stores. New York is great, too.”

Shoes you’re on the hunt for: “I need a pair of simple gold flats. I also want to find some new wedges.”
