There’s a lot more to NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony’s footwear wardrobe than his signature Jordan Melos, now in their fifth generation.
The Denver Nuggets small forward — whose team made it to the 2009 Western Conference Finals — owns more than 500 pairs of shoes, with high-end Italian labels scoring the most fashion points.
After the final buzzer, 25-year-old Anthony is eager to kick off his sneakers and dress things up with a pair of sleek Guccis, Ferragamos or Pradas. But whether he’s on the court or on the town, comfort remains a priority.
Brands: Gucci, Jordan, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo and Timberland, among others
Favorite pairs: “My own. The Jordan Melo M5 and my other signature shoes. They’re a reflection of me.”
Most expensive pair: “Probably a pair of Guccis. I like their street shoes — the laceups with a thicker sole. I also like the wingtips and dress boots.”
Least expensive pair: “Generic slippers from the supermarket.”
Favorite stores: “I like to shop at Gucci for dress shoes and at Foot Locker or Niketown for sneakers.”
Most comfortable pair: “Jordan Melo M5. I put a lot into the shoe to make sure it’s high-performance on the court and stylish off the court, with the right type of comfort features for both.”
Most uncomfortable pair: “Some of my hard-bottom dress shoes can get pretty uncomfortable.”
Wildest pair: “I don’t have any wild shoes, but I do have some super-exclusive Jordans in some crazy colors and materials.”
Favorite Saturday night shoe: “Probably something from Gucci.”
Dream shoe: “I’ve already started to design it: the Jordan Melo M6.”
