Come kickoff time Sunday night, the NBC Sports team of 10 commentators will be wearing shoes by Fratelli Rossetti.
The Italian footwear brand was chosen by NBC Sports stylist Amy Acton, who is a fan of the label. She told Footwear News that she spends a lot of time in the neighborhood of its New York boutique, on Madison Avenue.
“I like passing by the store. [The brand] has something for everyone, from the coolest of cats to the most straight-laced of guys,” said Acton. “Rodney Harrison can have that pro-athlete vibe and Peter King, a writer for Sports Illustrated, could care less what he’s wearing.”
And while the Super Bowl is always an opportunity for the team to get a little more dressed up than usual, Acton said comfort is always a top priority.
But do the shoes show on television?
“It’s hit or miss, I’m not going to lie,” said Acton. “[The guys] do a lot of stand-ups, and we want them to look stellar and stand out.”
