As the cold weather inches closer, Aetrex Worldwide Inc. is helping shoppers prepare for winter with Lynco Shearling Orthotics. New to the market for fall, they feature shearling fiber on top, which keeps feet warm and provides a comfortable cushion. The product also acts as an insulator, by drawing off liquid and permitting air circulation. The Lynco is sold at independent retailers for $60, including Foot Solutions and The Walking Company, and online at Foot.com.
The Boot Comfort Kit from Apara, owned by Implus Footcare LLC, is offering three options for foot protection. Each kit includes full-foot Slingies, designed to provide cushion support from the heel to the ball of the foot. Also, the Heal Appeal specifically cradles the heel, while the black Grippy Steps help provide stability and prevent slipping. The all-in-one kit is available at DSW and Famous Footwear retailers for $15.
Foot Petals Inc. is embracing its active side with the Sport Insole, which hits retailers early next year. The product comes in a reusable clutch and includes hand tags featuring safety tips. The insole will be available in January 2010 exclusively on HSN for $30, but is slated to launch in department stores and boutiques in February.
Spenco Medical Corp. is supporting green initiatives with the Spenco Earthbound, a replacement insole made from 55 percent recycled materials. The insole is fit for an active group and is recommended for use during activities such as running, hiking and tennis. Spenco’s Earthbound product comes with extra cushioning, shock absorption and a PolySorb cradle for added stability. The eco-friendly packaging is printed on recycled paper with soy-based ink. The insole, released mid-October, is available in women’s sizes 3 to 12 and men’s sizes 6 to 15 for $40 at national retail stores and at Spenco.com.
Superfeet Worldwide Inc. is appealing to a new audience with the Wide Green insole, designed for feet of all widths and sizes. The product is a version of the company’s popular Trim-to-Fit Green Premium Insole. All premium insoles feature the Encapsulating Stabilizer System, which creates a heel cup for support under the foot and overall comfort. Wide Green is available in women’s sizes 6.5 to 12 and men’s sizes 5.5 to 17, all up to size 6E in width. The product, which debuted last month, retails at $35 and is available at select Fleet Feet Sports and other specialty retailers.
Sole is relaunching its line of footbeds in 2010, with a focus on recycled materials. The signature-edition footbeds (including the Ed Viesturs (at right) for $50) now use Oeko-Tex certified Polygiene, a more environmentally friendly option for fighting odor compared with the silver fibers that were previously used. The Softec series (including the Response for $45) now uses 20 percent recycled EVA bases and 35 percent recycled topsheets. The Thin Sport and the Thin Casual, which fit better for narrow shoes and also feature a recycled base and topsheet, retail for $40. All Sole footbeds are available at specialty retailers and online at Yoursole.com.
