Comfort brand Alegria is leading the pack on Pinterest.
The Pomona, Calif.-based brand increased its following by 90 percent, or 3,974 new followers, in May as a result of brand pins and boards, according to digital marketing agency Stylophane.
Alegria claimed the No. 1 position by a large margin, followed by Nike Women U.S.A., up 6 percent; Jack Rogers, up 9 percent; Toms, up 4 percent; and Vans, up 6 percent.
“When people are passionate about a brand, they want to know everything there is about it, and having a social media presence allows the brand to capture that excitement and passion,” said Luke Chen, Alegria’s COO. “Once our customers discover Alegria, they can’t wait to share their experience with others. And by connecting with us, we are providing them the information and tools to spread the latest news and fuel that passion.”
A search for Alegria shoes on Pinterest returns a mix of product shots as well as users modeling their favorite pairs. Chen said recent QVC appearances also caused a spike in traffic, as consumers shared their favorite styles with their peer circles.
“Shoes are very personal and intimate, and to get to know our shoes, you have to wear it. We are constantly offering contests to win free shoes, and for those who feel comfortable buying directly from the manufacturer, we make that available too,” Chen said of the brand’s social media strategy.
