Children’s Streetwear Brand Launches Father’s Day Collection

Children’s retailer Akid introduces a collection of matching styles for father and child.

L.A.-based children’s wear line Akid has produced a matching footwear collection for father and child, timed for Father’s Day on June 15.

The limited-edition style, Birdie, is available on the brand’s website in sizes 4 through 12 for children and 9 through 12 for men, and is priced at $200 for the matching set. (The child’s pair retails at $70 separately).

Specializing in streetwear for tots, Akid is the brainchild of Matthew George and his wife, Ashleigh Dempster. George founded Ransom by Adidas footwear and is the owner of several retail shops including Stussy in Canada, Saint Alfred’s in Chicago and Nomad in Toronto.

"We always try to keep our finger on the pulse in terms of what works for our designs, and we never sacrifice style for comfort or practicality. To us, they are all equally important,” Dempster explained. “We thought Father's Day was a perfect time to show that our designs are universal, and they look great on dads and kids alike."

The Birdie design is crafted out of 100 percent full-grain lambskin and comes in four colors as part of the summer offering.
