For fall '14, Milan's footwear was composed of both audacious new propositions and a strong sense of amplified luxury. Fur cropped up in the most unusual places — on heels, tongues and straps (usually on uppers) at MSGM, Fendi, Bruno Magli and René Caovilla. Menswear-inspired styles, often with outsize tongue and kiltie details, were a sartorial favorite at Marni, Santoni and Fratelli Rossetti. Needle-nose toes continued to trend at Marco de Vincenzo, Bally and Casadei, while a forgotten style staged a refreshing comeback at Prada: the square toe. Suddenly, it's hip again.
