Resort '13 Trend: Getting Graphic

Spotlighting the season’s striking prints, color-blocking and graphic designs.

fashion/news

Wild prints, color blocking and woven designs have been highlights for resort '13. The season's vivid color palette livened up a range of architectural footwear silhouettes, from vertiginous platform wedges to single-soled stilettos. A striking mix of materials and patterns collided in these distinctive designs, notably in T-strap stilettos at Diane von Furstenberg, loafer-inspired peep-toes at Givenchy and clunky color-blocked platforms at Louis Vuitton. Backless wedge mules also made a strong comeback at Narciso Rodriguez, in a luxe mix of snakeskin and leather with a pop of turquoise. Laser-cut details added further depth to peep-toe booties by Nicholas Kirkwood for Prabal Gurung and pointy-toe ankle boots at Versace, while Roberto Cavalli and Stella McCartney opted for high-powered prints for their resort offerings.
