Pre-fall ’12 is shaping up to be another strong boot season, with ankle-skimming cuts topping the list of chic must-haves.
Pointy toes are also making a resurgence in short boot styles, including a luxe, black-and-white mixed-skin version from Reed Krakoff and Karl Lagerfeld’s glittering maharajah flat slip-ons at Chanel.
Christopher Bailey opted for a more rugged chukka boot-inspired style at Burberry. The polished girly looks were finished with velvet bow belts.
At Zero + Maria Cornejo, cutaways added sex appeal to a lower-heeled minimalist silhouette, while Donna Karan flirted with the idea of a shoe that is an oxford bootie from the front and a slingback from behind.
Meanwhile, Nicole Miller showed platform lace-up boots featuring buckle overstraps to accompany everything from acid-wash denim to form-fitting dresses.
Pringle of Scotland’s design director, Alistair Carr, played with an orange-and-green graffiti print on skinny pants and dresses for fall, a look that translated into chunky-heeled cropped boots with similarly colorful abstract panels that wrapped around the heel.
