Sacai may not have the name recognition of fellow Japanese brands that show — and send shock waves — in Paris, but after today's presentation, that may change. Designer Chitose Abe, a disciple of Rei Kawakubo and Junya Watanabe, has seen buzz for her brand amplify significantly as of late (endorsements from Karl Lagerfeld and the street style set don't hurt either). This season, the shoes were pared down to sculptural wooden-soled platforms. With a contoured footbed, buckled straps and no-nonsense colors — white, blue or red — they called to mind a modernized Dr. Scholl’s sandal. A gold ankle strap and inset carved heel provided the sleek version of bells and whistles.
