Miuccia Prada is the queen of reinvention. For fall at Miu Miu, the designer opted for longer lengths on flowing skirts, zip-up sweaters and nipped-in jackets, which consequently served to spotlight the footwear. Lug-sole Mary Janes and ankle boots with a Victorian bent grounded most looks on the runway and often were paired with striped tights, slightly evoking Mary Poppins. But the standout shoe emerged in a belle-époque bootie with decorative buttons, worn with pleated skirts and belted outerwear for a look that was part Victorian and part sporty. The look was modern and wearable to boot.
