Acné has built a strong business in the high-contemporary space with non-derivative looks. They continued to march to their own Nordic beat for fall '14, right down to the runway footwear's offbeat bent. Squared-off shapes were predominant throughout tall boots and lug-sole loafers. A polished patina lent a series of speed-laced booties an innovative angle. And while these heeled styles were like nothing else seen this season thus far, they also were completely in tune with the duck-bill-shaped toe and menswear influence that has been picking up speed during the collections. Like most important fashion, they may appear challenging to the eye at first, but deserve a second glance.
