The Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane has been mythologized as a defining footwear statement. For up-and-coming label Misha Nonoo, the style made a comeback, albeit with a twist. "I loved the idea of pairing them with a sheer sockette," the designer said backstage following her show. Sure, it was a cool trick, lending the decidedly proper pumps a welcome relevance. But the footwear's polished patent and high-shine satin finish also picked up on the collection's core inspiration: architect Louis Kahn's discourse on light and space.
