Alexander Wang RTW Fall 2012

Alexander Wang has turned a refined corner from his previous edgy downtown aesthetic. For fall ’12, the designer presented a collection full of sophisticated, yet cool, looks featuring clever glossy finishes like laminated tweed and waxed suede. Wang’s choice of high-shine vachetta leather also appeared in the footwear, where the knee-high boots stole the spotlight. Looking particularly sleek in the season’s all-important oxblood hue, the look featured Wang’s pointy toe with the chunky heel and just-to-there height. It also didn’t hurt to see Wang explore a more expanded notion of chic on the likes of supermodels — and arbiters of taste — Shalom Harlow, Karolina Kurkova and Gisele Bündchen. This boot will be an important style come fall.
