Rope, silk ribbons, woven scarves and leather laces tied around the ankle have taken center stage on spring footwear. At the Milan collections, printed silk scarf-like ties added a feminine touch to platform sandals at René Caovilla and stacked cone-heel sandals at Moschino. Missoni took a slightly edgier route with multicolored woven ankle ties on sandals with low block heels in fluorescent shades. Whether the overall effect plays girly or overtly sexy, ankle interest is a clear signature for spring ’11.
