Milan Fashion Week got off to a punchy start on Wednesday, with bold colors and sleek fabrics such as satin, suede and velvet taking center stage for spring ’11. On the Gucci catwalk, Frida Giannini showed tribal-chic mini dresses with lots of woven and dangle details in burnt orange, goldenrod and emerald. Neutral stone and beige hues were best for corset peep-toe ankle boots and knee-high woven styles, while brighter shades added luxurious appeal for evening, with strappy sandals incorporating velvet, leather and metal. Our favorite look? This burnt-orange velvet T-strap stiletto with gold trim and metal-plating.
