Torrance, Calif.-based Taos has boots on its short list for fall, focusing on dressy shooties and casual ankle styles. This season, the design team gathered inspiration from the work of their favorite local painters and visual artists. They then created such pieces as jewelry made out of found items and multimedia sculptures, which were used as novelty details on the footwear collection. Metal buckles, buttons and decorative floral artwork on the insoles were the result. The artisan-inspired collection, retailing from $90 to $215, is available at Footwear Etc. in Sunnyvale, Calif.; Schuler Shoes in Minneapolis; and Selby Shoes Etc. in South Portland, Maine.
