Skechers is branching out.
The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based brand has partnered with French Craft Leather Goods Co. to create a line of leather accessories for adults and children.
The collection, set to hit stores next month, will include buckles cast in zinc, steel and brass, and embellished belts and wallets made from full-grain leather, suede, cotton and nylon in the style of the brand’s footwear. The wallet offering will also include billfolds, checkbook covers and children’s coin purses.
“Skechers’ brand recognition is bigger than our core product, making this the perfect time to expand our licensing program into new categories,” Skechers president Michael Greenberg said in a release. “We couldn’t ask for a better partner than French Craft to help [us] meet the needs of our consumers from head-to-toe.”
French Craft Leather Goods will design, produce and distribute the line, which will be sold in independent boutiques, department stores and sporting goods shops across the U.S. and Canada.
Skechers, which is in negotiations to create additional categories, also works with licensees to produce children’s apparel, sunglasses, legwear, medical scrubs, backpacks and bags.
