Skechers USA Inc. has signed with Strategic Partners Inc. to create an apparel line for caregivers in the medical field.

The lifestyle footwear leader has set out to modernize the traditional scrubs worn by nurses and other medical professionals, including incorporating different silhouettes and fabrics. Strategic Partners, the makers of Cherokee Medical Apparel, will use ready-to-wear trends in the designs of uniform staples — pants, jackets and T-shirts — that will be available in a wide range of sizes. The line will retail for $20 to $24.

“Doctors and nurses already love our Skechers work non-slip footwear products,” Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, said in a statement. “This new medical apparel line perfectly complements our workplace footwear offerings and will be a fantastic extension to the Skechers brand and lifestyle within medical environments.”

The apparel is set to launch in January 2010 and will be available at independent uniform retailers and in catalogs.
