Skechers Expands into Eyewear

The footwear firm reveals licensing agreement for branded glasses.

Skechers USA Inc. announced Tuesday it will launch its first eyewear collection in spring ’10. Under a new licensing agreement, the company will offer sunglasses and prescription eyewear for men, women and kids.

The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based company has made the deal with Viva International Group, which has developed eyewear for Bongo, Candies, Guess, Rampage, Tommy Hilfiger and others.

“In the last few years, we broadened the reach and offering of our brand with accessories and apparel,” Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, said in a statement. “By adding eyewear to our product offering, Skechers will be meeting the needs of our consumers from head to toe.”

Viva will design, manufacture and distribute the eyewear to more than 700 opticians, as well as to department and specialty retailers worldwide.
