Chasing Liberty
Manolo Blahnik unveiled his fall ’10 press collection Friday and announced that he would join forces with Liberty of London in September to create an in-store world of Manolo Blahnik in a part of the store that once housed scarves.

The famous footwear designer said he didn’t like the term pop-up shop to describe the three-month collaboration, preferring to call it a “world of Manolo” instead. “It’s going to be exciting to work with a big store of which there is only one,” said Blahnik of the collaboration with the bijou British department store, famous for its iconic prints. “I love the fact that I’m doing all sorts of really exciting things here including scarves, candles and designing new Liberty prints.”

Manolo Blahnik for Liberty of London will launch on Fashion Night Out in September and will carry through until Christmas. The partnership marks the first time that any retailer in England has carried the designer’s shoes outside of his own eponymous London store. The store will carry a selection of the 100-strong fall ’10 collection that includes a flat version of the shoe Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the “Sex and the City” movie as well as furry yeti boots with heels, hybrid shearling boots, elegant boat shoe moccasin high heels and pared down riding boots.

Boston Beginning
Giuseppe Zanotti is bringing luxurious fashion to Boston. The designer is opening a boutique today at the Copley Place Mall, which is home to a variety of other high-end shops such as Gucci and Jimmy Choo. The store will have the same décor as seen in existing locations in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas. “Bostonians can now step into the finest shoe designs on the planet,” franchise owner Maristela Rapo said in a statement. “It is a privilege for me to be working with Zanotti and providing his beautiful collection of shoes, boots and pocketbooks at our Copley Place venue.”
