NEW YORK — Pam Salkovitz has a new gig.
The former president of Stride Rite Children’s Group will assume the same role at Zigi, the contemporary women’s company owned by Segev Davidson.
“There is tremendous growth potential, which is extremely exciting to me,” Salkovitz told Footwear News. “The product is some of the freshest I’ve seen.”
While the firm is currently based in Huntington, N.Y., it will soon open a headquarters in New York, where Salkovitz will be based. The design and marketing teams are located in Los Angeles, while founder Davidson lives in China.
Salkovitz said that in her first year on the job, she plans to focus on building the internal team, as well as launching a chain of Zigi retail stores. She will also work to develop a new Website, as well as bolster relationships with the company’s retail partners, consumers and international distributors.
Zigi has embarked on a growth push, which includes the spring launch of sub-brands Rock & Candy and 1999, debuting in spring ’10. “We will be laser focused on those [projects] as well,” Salkovitz said.
