Elisa Ferare, maker of handmade shoes, died on April 25. She was 65.

A native of Northern California, Ferare began to design shoes in 2003 and took pride in the fact that her line was made in American by local artisans. Her collection has been offered by such notable retailers as Neiman Marcus, Maxfield in Los Angeles, Bob Ellis in Charleston, S.C., and Capitol in Charlotte, N.C.

The funeral will be held on May 8 in Stockton, Calif. An additional event to celebrate her life will take place in Los Angeles at a later date.
