Paula Radcliffe, three-time New York City Marathon winner, was all smiles at a “pep rally” at the Niketown store in the heart of Manhattan on Thursday.

Scary Jones of the radio station Z100 was the M.C. for the afternoon, while the Brooklyn Steppers Marching Band got attendees riled up for the upcoming weekend event. The Nike store hosted a Q&A segment with runner Robert Cheruiyot, four-time winner of the Boston Marathon, along with Radcliffe, who is sponsored by the athletic company.

As Sunday’s marathon approaches, Radcliffe expressed how thrilled she was to be back in the city for another run. “It’s so unique of a marathon,” the Brit said. “There are different crowds in every borough — the Bronx is a different crowd than in Central Park — and the city really gets behind it.”

This week, Beaverton, Ore.-based Nike also introduced a new collection inspired by the world’s marathon runners. The Nike LunarGlide+ Race Collection features nine shoes with performance benefits that each represent some of the world’s top marathons.
