Klas Shoes is stepping into the comfort market full force with the fall ’09 launch of two new labels: Rotasole and KlasFit.

The Bedford, Mass.-based company has been named the exclusive global licensee of Rotasole technology, a patented system developed by Australian orthopedic surgeon Jack Goldberg. The technology is designed to provide the wearer with stress relief to the ankles, knees and hips during daily physical movements such as walking. A patented disc built into part of the EVA outsole prevents the body from twisting. The bottoms provide a gripping action, and an air cushion is incorporated into the heel for shock absorption.

The athletic-inspired collection, available for men at $149 retail and women at $129, is targeted to independents, athletic specialty stores, catalogs and e-tailers. Set for a July delivery, a companion series of casuals is slated for 2010.

KlasFit, with a focus on the diabetic and arthritis markets, is a line of lightweight looks with uppers made of Leather-Flex, a soft, stretchable material for added comfort. Features include extra-depth silhouettes, lined stitching for softness and non-slip outsoles. The entire collection is available in narrow to extra-wide widths at retail prices from $90 to $130. Delivery is slated for July.

Both Rotasole and KlasFit are equipped with removable SensFoot insoles, a line of footbeds from Asia that has named Klas Shoes its licensee for the Americas. SensFoot’s Diabetic Comfort insole will be used in the Klas line, while the Rotasole line comes with the Power Control version designed for sports.

To familiarize consumers with the breadth of Klas products, the company has just launched its first Website, Klasshoes.com.
