Artful Dodger Signs Footwear License

New line will debut for holiday '09.

Artful Dodger is adding shoes to the mix.

The New York-based boutique apparel brand announced on Friday it had signed a multi-year license with Doel-Reed Footwear to create and distribute men’s shoes under the Artful Dodger name.

Tanita Gray, whose resume includes time at Ed Hardy Shoes, Naughty Monkey, French Sole and Academiks, was named creative director for the line.

Artful Dodger footwear will soft launch for holiday ’09, with a full rollout planned for spring ’10.

“We are pleased to add footwear to the Artful Dodger collection,” Scott Langton, founder, creative director and head designer of Artful Dodger, said in a statement. "Footwear was a natural extension in transforming Artful Dodger into a lifestyle brand.”

Octavia Dosier of Doel-Reed Footwear said in the statement, “This is a new experience for us and our first license. Artful Dodger is a brand with a tremendous amount of momentum and potential.”
