Adidas Shuffles Execs as Nilsson Departs

Mark King takes over as North American head

Patrik Nilsson is leaving the top U.S. job at Adidas Group to become the CEO of Gant, a Swedish apparel brand.

Adidas said this morning that Mark King will assume the role of president of Adidas North America starting June 1. Since 2003, King has been CEO of TaylorMade-Adidas Golf.

In his new post, King will oversee all Adidas and Reebok operations in the North American market. He will report to Roland Auschel, a member of the firm's executive board.

"Mark King's appointment underlines our clear commitment to the North American marketplace," Herbert Hainer, CEO of the Adidas Group, said in a statement. "Mark has a proven track record of success and leadership excellence."

Ben Sharpe, EVP of Adidas Golf and Ashworth, will become the new CEO of TaylorMade-Adidas golf.
