Dan Bazinet has left his post as CEO of Birkenstock USA.

The company said in a statement that Bazinet decided to leave the company to pursue new opportunities.

Karl-Bernd Bremer, a managing director for Birkenstock Germany, has been named CEO to oversee all American operations. He will split his responsibilities between Germany and Northern California.

The firm has also created a new role in the U.S. market: VP of sales and marketing. Jay McGregor, who has previously worked with Teva and Adidas, will assume that post.

Bazinet was named to the top spot at Birkenstock last fall. During his short tenure, he worked to carve out unique identities for each of the company’s brands as well as bolster relationships with retailers.

The company has been plagued in the past by inventory problems, but Bazinet said earlier this year that it had resolved its supply-chain issues.
