Anyone expecting a song or dance from Justin Timberlake was at the wrong show. In fact, Timberlake’s face time at the William Rast show was limited to a video advertisement and a brief post-runway bow, making the clothes, to some fans’ disappointment, the main attraction. Marcella and Johan Lindeberg designed the Justin-approved men’s and women’s wear with a focus on “proper denim,” as Marcella called it, and an eye toward Timberlake and partner Trace Alaya’s Tennessee roots. The result was trendied-up redneck chic — torn tomboy jeans, vests, slouchy blazers and T-shirts — and not a trucker hat in sight. And a few overfringed offenses aside, the whole shebang was played cool. But it would’ve been cooler if J.T. had at least busted a move.
