Of course, some in the crowd seemed disoriented at being out of Manhattan. "Why are we in Jersey again?" joked one geographically-challenged guest.
But that's exactly the effect host Jefferson Hack was aiming for. "The idea is just to do a salon," he said as he presided over one of the rustic farmhouse tables scattered between Yellin's sculptures in the cavernous white space. (Hack knows the artist from the early Nineties, when he used to crash at his West Side apartment).
After a dance performance by the Stephen Petronio Company, guests including Verushcka, Amy Sacco, Stella Schnabel and Bijou Philips nibbled on an organic feast before singing "Happy Birthday" to Mark Ronson. Then Anouck Lepere led the charge to the dance floor, where Hack had taken over the turntables from djs the Misshapes.
