Sometimes the mind’s eye has to squint hard to make out Robert Geller’s arcane inspirations. “Germans in the late Fifties, vacationing on the North Sea,” he said backstage. But no matter, because in a collection of billowy silks, chic jeans, regal colors and great leather jackets, the appeal is obvious. Geller just finished a capsule collection for Levi’s, and he continued experimenting with denim in his own line, showing pleated, colored jeans with extended waists. The palette of the show started out aubergine, royal blue and teal, then faded to mustard and olive and finally to chalky white and gray. Silk pieces, including ponchos and shorts with cinched side seams, looked modern with the right layering. Straw caps and wilted chiffon flowers gave it all a quirky, romantic finish.
