A dazzling bike-handling performance made a dynamic opening statement for an East-meets-West show, which expressed the international outlook of modern youth. First out were three-piece suits with neither ties nor socks. But the collection’s key piece, in endless variations, was a pair of cargo shorts that sometimes served as the bottom half of a suit. A pair of cherry red trousers marked the Eastern portion of the show, which was mostly a matter of diverse casting, since a single thread of sleek urbanity ran throughout the collection itself. Bold dots, chevrons and Polynesian florals (rendered in black burnout velvet) injected some individual flair before, finally, a group of guys in shiny cargo shorts rode by on EA7 beach cruisers.
