2009 Fall Ready-to-Wear
Challenging times, indeed. Whether a provocative meditation on hard times, such as Alexander McQueen’s darkly extravagant stunner and Rei Kawakubo’s girly military hybrid, or a defiant, over-the-top French romp a la Marc Jacobs for Vuitton, designer reactions were a triumph of creativity. And not just from the majors; smaller, younger acts such as Thakoon, Rodarte and a remarkable number of newcomers put forth a fine effort.
