Italians don’t neglect their sartorial style with the summer heat. In Portofino — where everything from the vintage wood boats docked in the picturesque harbor to the nautical decors of the seafront cafés oozes chic — women dress with an effortless sophistication, wearing fine cotton shirts, white maxidresses and linen caftans. The younger ones among them opt for printed shirtdresses and fishnet beach robes in vivid hues.

In the Northeastern seaport city of Trieste, meanwhile, the fashion crowd turned out in full force for the 12th edition of ITS, the International Talent Support contest, earlier this month. There was no shortage of fashion creativity, from retro looks to streetwear, and even an original Japanese kimono.
