- NEW TEXTILES SHOW: Dallas-based Market Center Management Co. Ltd. today plans to announce a new international textiles show in partnership with the Textile Association of Los Angeles. The event will launch in 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, said Meredith Hite, an MCMC spokeswoman. Details will be disclosed at a news conference in Los Angeles. Last week, Material World said it will move its annual fall textile fair to Los Angeles from New York next year. MCMC shares the same executive team as the Dallas Market Center Co., which manages FashionCenterDallas at the World Trade Center. Focusing on international trade shows, MCMC owns or manages interests at ShanghaiMart and Brussels International Trade Mart and is codeveloping the Latin American Trade Mart set to open in 2011 in Bogota, Colombia.
- LA PERLA TAPS BISZANTZ: Suzy Biszantz has been appointed chief executive officer of La Perla North America. She succeeds Ivana Nonnis, who left the company last week. Biszantz reports to Jeff Hansen, ceo of Bologna, Italy-based La Perla Srl. She joins the 58-year-old luxury lingerie and fashion group after serving seven years as president and ceo of Greg Norman Collection, an upscale golf-inspired apparel brand. In addition to running wholesale operations, Biszantz will oversee La Perla’s nine signature stores and three outlets in North America. The $270 million La Perla was acquired by San Francisco-based JH Partners in July 2007.
