Rick Bodwicz, director of textiles at Oscar de la Renta, died Thursday at Milford Hospital in Milford, Conn. He was 45.

The cause of death was heart failure, the company said.

Bodwicz, who had been at Oscar de la Renta for eight years, previously worked with Carolina Herrera for 14 years as a pattern maker. Before that, he was employed by Pauline Trigère.

"He was just the most wonderful man," said de la Renta. "We all loved him. He was a hard worker, and was so unbelievably kind to everyone. This is such a loss for everyone who knew him and loved him."

A wake is scheduled at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, Conn., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. A funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road, Orange, Conn. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Bodwicz is survived by his mother, brother, sister and two nieces.
