Designers Yoshikazu Yamagata and Kentaro Tamai used a pony and mannequins to show their spring/summer collection, so it's hardly surprising that they took a less than conventional route for fall/winter... by not showing any clothing at all. The pair of mavericks encased their models in fanciful sculptures made out of crumpled paper, duct tape, tin foil, shards of styrofoam and other castoffs. An anti-fashion statement? Not so — or so they say. Backstage, the designers explained that they wanted to show how real fashion design goes beyond clothing to touch people on an emotional level.
