A discreet showroom affair seems like the best way to present pre-fall. It worked well for Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa, who went futuristic, but more soberly so than he did for spring. The smart collection drew its raciness from sleek lines that emphasized shoulder and waist, and its graphic punch from controlled plays of subdued colors, textures and fabric manipulations, such as intricate pleating.
