Zara Tindall Gives Birth to Baby Girl

The royal baby was born six months after Prince George.

LONDON — Queen Elizabeth has become a great-grandmother for the second time in six months after her eldest granddaughter Zara Tindall gave birth to her first child, a girl.

The baby is the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild and 16th in line to the British throne. She was born just six months after Prince George of Cambridge, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who is third in line to the throne.

The Tindalls’ baby, whose name has not yet been announced, was born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, not far from the couple’s countryside home. She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces, Kensington Palace said Friday.

Zara and her husband Mike Tindall were married in July 2011 at Canongate Kirk on Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile.

Phillips is the youngest child of Princess Anne the Princess Royal and her ex-husband Captain Mark Phillips. She is an award-winning equestrian and was a member of the 2012 British Olympic team.

Tindall is a top professional rugby player and the former captain of the England team.
