ZAC’S CROWD: The Details bash celebrating its September cover boy, Zac Efron, had all the makings of an episode of “Entourage”: a hot young movie star and his pals, a gaggle of miniskirted starlets, an infinity pool and a hilltop view of the Los Angeles lights. Surveying the nattily dressed crowd, which included Matthew Morrison of “Glee,” directors Judd Apatow and Adam Shankman, Josh Groban, “Eclipse” werewolf Alex Meraz, Milo Ventimiglia and Bill Hader, editor in chief Dan Peres said: “Everyone here looks great, but most guys in L.A. don’t get it quite right. It will be our mission to de-Ed Hardy Southern California.”

PHOTO FINISH: Just in time for Paris Fashion Week, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie will stage twin exhibitions showcasing the work of Karl Lagerfeld and the duo Tania et Vincent. The Lagerfeld retrospective, titled “Parcours de travail” (“Work history”), mixes commissioned portrait, fashion, landscape and architecture shots with more personal experiments centering on print techniques. It will run from Sept. 15 to Oct. 31. Meanwhile, a selection of Tania et Vincent’s still lifes for Citizen K magazine, juxtaposing luxury goods with kitschy elements, will be shown under the heading “Consumation: Luxury Consumption in Citizen K” from Sept. 8 to Oct. 31.

FNO 90210: Rodeo Drive will be a carnival of fashion events from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 10 during Fashion’s Night Out, including Samuel L. Jackson hosting an exhibition of his favorite red-carpet looks at the Giorgio Armani store and a four-story Ferris wheel. Among the other happenings: Chanel will provide free manicures with nail polish created by global creative director Peter Philips; Lacoste will stage a Wii Tennis tournament; Salvatore Ferragamo will celebrate creative director Massimiliano Giornetti’s first women’s collection; Tod’s will premiere a limited edition G-Bag; Coach and Mikimoto will invite artists to customize merchandise; Roberto Cavalli will fete the evening with beats spun by DJ Rick Khan, and Valentino will put on a casino night. Other retailers are participating as well, including Tiffany & Co., Chopard, Lladró, Bally, BCBG Max Azria, Guess, Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and Anne Fontaine.

CARLA’S ANNIVERSARY: Galleria Carla Sozzani will celebrate its 20th birthday on Sept. 9 with German artist Loretta Lux and an exhibit of her signature surreal children’s portraits that will run until Oct. 31. Carla Sozzani, owner of 10 Corso Como, opened the gallery in Milan in September 1990, displaying the works of American photographer Louise Dahl-Wolfe, then relatively unknown in Italy.

In two decades, the space has housed more than 200 exhibitions of art, photography, architecture and design by the likes of Bruce Weber, Helmut Newton, David LaChapelle, Annie Leibovitz and Steven Meisel. The gallery, wedged inside an old, cobblestoned Milanese courtyard, is also a favorite venue for fashion events and presentations. The milestone will be commemorated with a book, which will be released by in-house publisher Carla Sozzani Editore and will feature artists, installations, events and invitations from the past two decades.

A GOOD VINTAGE: Pop-up shops are so 2009. Right now, it’s all about the pop-up high street, and Britain’s first will make its debut at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival, which runs from today through Sunday, in the picturesque grounds of the Goodwood House estate, West Sussex. The three-day event — the brainchild of British designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway and Charles March, who owns the Goodwood estate — will be the first of its kind in Britain to unite fashion, music, film, art and design from the Forties to the Eighties. Some 30,000 festivalgoers are expected to attend. The high street will showcase 25 stores including Fortnum & Mason, The Body Shop, IWC watches and Cath Kidston. Elsewhere, a vintage marketplace will house more than 200 vendors from around the world, offering labels including Azzedine Alaïa and Yves Saint Laurent. Jemma Kidd will be doing makeup lessons, Zandra Rhodes and Celia Birtwell will give talks and Stephen Jones will show off a selection of hats. Vintage at Goodwood will feature a musical lineup of DJs and bands such as Aswad, the Buzzcocks, Noisettes, Heaven 17, the Faces and Sandie Shaw.

NEW TO L.A.: Y-3 opened its first freestanding store in Los Angeles over the weekend on a stretch of Melrose Avenue that includes Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg. The sleek, 2,400-square-foot store is the sixth for the brand, a collaboration between Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas, in the U.S. Prices in the store range from roughly $100 to $2,500 for women’s and men’s apparel, footwear, accessories and Y-3’s new kids’ collection. The brand officially will celebrate its debut on Melrose Avenue with an event at the end of next month. No additional Y-3 stores are planned for this year.
