WU-ING THE CROWD: “I’ll never be about the $20,000 phantom dress that no one wears,” said Jason Wu, who was the guest of honor at a small dinner hosted by Net-a-Porter.com Tuesday night at Blakes in London. “I try to walk that fine line between commercial, editorial and runway looks.” The crowd, mostly editors and private clients — including Sly Bailey, chief executive of the U.K.’s largest newspaper publisher, Trinity Mirror — were all wowed by the designer’s kudos at the tender age of 26. But Wu was having none of it. “I’m going to be 27 this year,” he said. The designer was on a flying visit to London, a place he hadn’t seen since he was a teenager. “The city is so chic — I love all the low buildings.”
