WRAPPER’S DELIGHT: Diane von Furstenberg will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its iconic wrap dress in 2014, and will kick off the year with its “Journey of a Dress” exhibition in Los Angeles. The exhibit bears the same title as DVF retrospectives that traveled to Moscow in 2009 and China in 2011, but the designer is reimagining the show for this latest stateside presentation. It will be staged from Jan. 11 through March at the Wilshire May Company building next to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art campus, with a kick-off party planned for Jan. 10, to be hosted by von Furstenberg. The exhibit will include vintage and contemporary wrap-dress designs and portraits of the designer by Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, Francesco Clemente, Helmut Newton and Annie Leibovitz, among others. “I was 26 when I created the wrap dress and I am thrilled to be celebrating it now with this exhibition,” said von Furstenberg.
