WITH HONORS: This spring, Parsons The New School for Design will honor Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, as well as Bonnie Brooks, president of Hudson’s Bay Co., at its annual fashion benefit.
It’s the second time the Proenza Schouler designers are receiving an award at this event, which is marking its 65th year. In 2002 they nabbed the Designers of the Year honor with their graduating collection. “Jack and Lazaro’s ability to transform their thesis collection into one of today’s most successful fashion labels is an unparalleled success story,” Parsons executive dean Joel Towers said.
He added that Brooks, who was previously president of the Lane Crawford Joyce Group, “sets an example for our students of a fashion industry leader who has risen to the top of her field, revitalizing major retailers from North America to Asia.”
The 2013 Fashion Parsons Benefit is set to take place at Chelsea Piers on May 22.
