WILD WILD MIDWEST: Lisa Perry is a pro at embracing a theme with a perfect touch of whimsy, a point she proved during a dinner at her home on Wednesday night to celebrate her limited-edition Robert Indiana collection. The vibe was, well, Indiana (as in the state), and so Perry, who cohosted with Departures magazine’s Richard David Story, served up specialties like tomato soup garnished with Popcorn Indiana Kettlecorn and Wonder Bread grilled-cheese sandwiches on the side (the bread’s from Indianapolis); steak sandwiches with mashed potatoes, spinach, lima beans and corn, and, for dessert, a Hoosier sugar-cream pie. The art and fashion crowd — including Amalia Dayan and Adam Lindemann, Paul Kasmin, Dominique Lévy and Dorothy Berwin, Mark Shand and Gucci Westman — loved it. “Canned tomato juice, Wonder Bread, popcorn and potatoes — actually four of my favorite foods,” Perry, who originally hails from Chicago, said. “You can take the girl out of the Midwest, but you can’t take the Midwest out of the girl.”
